How providers are paid

Version 4 · Effective 10 October 2026 · For businesses on Whew

This is the basis on which Whew pays a business for work booked through the platform. It is shown to the customer before they accept a quote and to you when you send one; the version in force is recorded on each booking.

You are paid for completed work only

Whew charges the customer only after you mark the job complete in the app. Your payout is your price for the job (the amount you quoted, before GST, which does not include the service fee the customer pays Whew), less Whew's success fee, less your share of any refund, plus the GST shown on the booking, which is added to your payout. If you recorded a change on site and the customer approved it in the app, the approved price replaces the quoted one.

Whew's success fee

Whew's success fee is a percentage of your price, calculated on your price before GST. The rate is the one in Whew's fee schedule when you send the quote, shown on the quote before you send it and published at getwhew.ca/fees. It stays the same if the customer later approves a change to the work.

Founding rate

While Whew offers a founding rate, your business pays it instead of the standard rate until 25 of your completed jobs have been charged at the founding rate, where the founding rate is lower. A completed job is a visit you mark complete that the customer is charged for; a job with two visits counts as two. Whether the founding rate applies is decided when the customer is charged: it applies if Whew is offering it at that moment, it is lower than the job's rate, and fewer than 25 of your business's visits have been charged at it. A visit charged at the founding rate still counts if the payment is later refunded. The rates are published at getwhew.ca/fees.

No charge to see, receive or quote on work

Whew does not sell leads. Seeing a job, being invited to it and sending a quote cost nothing. The success fee applies only to work that is booked and completed.

When you are paid

Your payout is released when the job is complete: when the customer confirms the work, or when the completion window shown on the booking ends without a concern being raised. It is sent to the bank account connected to your Whew account through our payment processor, Stripe. Your dashboard shows each payout's amount and status.

Changes, cancellations and disputes

If a customer cancels before the visit starts, there is no charge and no payout. If the customer raises a problem after the visit has started, Whew reviews the record and decides what is charged and paid. If the customer raises a concern during the completion window shown on the booking, before confirming the work, the payout for that booking is held until it is resolved, and is reduced by your share of any refund given. If a refund is given after you have been paid, your share of it is recovered from that payout. If the customer disputes the payment with their card issuer, the payout for that booking is held until the dispute is decided. If it is decided in the customer's favour, no payout is made for that booking, or, if you have already been paid, your share is recovered from that payout.

Taxes and records

You are an independent business, responsible for your own tax and WCB obligations. Whew provides a record of each booking, its success fee, any GST shown, and each payout for your books.
