Terms of service

Version 2 · Effective 17 September 2026 · For customers of Whew

These terms apply when you use getwhew.ca to have work done at your home in Calgary. Please read them; you accept them when you create an account and again when you accept a quote.

What Whew is

Whew is a marketplace. It connects you with independent businesses that do the work. The business you book is your contractor; Whew is not, and Whew does not employ its people. Whew's job is to describe your work to businesses that are able to do it, to show you their quotes, to hold and process your payment, and to keep a record of what was agreed.

Quotes and prices

Every price you see on Whew is the full price: the business's charge, applicable tax and Whew's service fee, added up. Nothing is added afterwards. You are not committed to anything until you accept a quote. A quote may list what is excluded and how any open questions were priced; read those lines, because they are part of what you are accepting.

Accepting a quote and paying

When you accept a quote, we place an authorisation on your payment card for the quoted amount. This is not a charge. The card is charged only after the business marks the work complete, and only for the amount you accepted — or a changed amount you approved in the app before extra work was done. If the amount is never captured, the authorisation is released.

Changes on the day

If the business finds that the job differs from what was quoted, it records the change in the app before doing extra work, and you approve or decline it. Work you did not approve in the app is not chargeable through Whew.

Cancelling

How cancellations and refunds work is set out in the cancellation and refund terms, which you also accept when you accept a quote.

If something is not right

Tell us from your booking page within 7 days of the work being marked complete. We will look at the quote, the record of changes and the completion record, and speak to both sides. Where the record shows the work was not done as agreed, we will adjust or refund the charge. This does not limit any right you have under Alberta consumer law.

Your account

Keep your sign-in email under your control; one-time codes sent to it act as your signature. Give accurate information about the job and the address. Do not use Whew to arrange work outside the platform in order to avoid its terms, or to harass or defraud a business.

Limits

Whew checks that businesses meet the credential requirements a category of work carries, but it does not guarantee the quality of any business's work. Whew's responsibility to you is limited to the amount you paid through Whew for the booking concerned, except where the law does not allow that limit.

General

These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and of Canada as they apply there. If we change these terms we will publish the new version at getwhew.ca/legal/terms_of_service with its effective date; a booking is governed by the version in force when you accepted its quote, and your booking page shows which version that was.
